"Porgy & Bess - Redefined!"

Porgy & Bess - Redefined!

Porgy and Bess was Gershwin's longest and most ambitious work as well as his personal favorite. Jazz arrangers have found the epic, folk opera's thematic material fertile ground for embellishment and reinvention. Mark Masters has succeeded admirably in bringing his own concept to these familiar pieces. As in previous projects, Masters' 'in and out" approach re-casts the music while retaining its substance. He provides a series of stimulating send-offs, backgrounds, and riffs that complement but never overwhelm the soloists.
